Drone Simulation & Piloting · Grades 3–12

Crash a hundred times before it costs anything

Our simulator lab gives students the flight hours that make real piloting safe. Every crash is data, and every reset is instant.

Simulate it, then fly it

The lab is a bridge, not a video game

Students fly on calibrated controllers running physics-accurate simulators, then step onto the netted flight range with the same transmitter in their hands. Muscle memory transfers; repair bills don't.

Skills progression

Four stages from first hover to race heats

  1. 01

    Basic controls

Throttle, yaw, pitch and roll in an open arena. Students learn orientation — including the moment the drone turns to face them and every input reverses.

  2. 02

    Obstacle courses

Gates, hoops and tight corridors with a lap timer. Precision beats speed, and the leaderboard makes that argument for us.

  3. 03

    Mission challenges

Search patterns, delivery drops, inspection flights and simulated wind. Students plan the route before they fly it.

  4. 04

    Competitive flight

Head-to-head heats and a class championship, with pilots calling out their own faults during the replay review.

Safety-first curriculum

Before a single propeller spins, students pass a ground-school module: airspace basics, pre-flight checklists, battery handling and LiPo storage, prop guards, failsafe and return-to-home behaviour, and the rules for flying near people. Real flights happen in a netted cage or an approved open field with a spotter for every pilot.

Transition path to real hardware

  • 10+ logged simulator hours before first live flight
  • Written pre-flight checklist run every session
  • Tethered hover, then free hover, then forward flight
  • Battery care, prop replacement and basic field repair
  • Line-of-sight discipline and spotter communication
  • Optional pathway toward recreational pilot certification
